3XN prequalified in Calgary

3XN is among the four teams competing to design a new central library

Officials from the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation announced on Friday they had chosen four finalists who will compete for the honour of designing the building.

The design teams will have to draft a proposal for the 280,000 square foot space and submit it by September.

Besides 3XN, the finalists include Toronto’s KPMB, REX from New York and Norway’s Snohetta.

Construction on the Central Library will start next year, and officials hope the 245 million Canadian dollar project will be open by 2018.
