3XN establishes new office in Stockholm

Over a short period of time 3XN has been invited to contribute to Stockholm’s rapid development with an increasing number of projects. In response 3XN has decided to establish a new office in Stockholm to strengthen cooperation with local architects and clients

Stockholm is developing rapidly. Infrastructure and architecture is evolving as fast as Stockholm is growing bigger and stronger than both Copenhagen and other European cities. The growth in building projects in both the private and public sector has led to an increased demand for new ways of thinking. That is why Sweden has invited foreign architecture firms to help contribute to the positive development.

A few years ago 3XN won its first project in Sweden – a new university building in Uppsala. Since then things have progressed rapidly and now 3XN's activities in Sweden have grown to include more than ten projects. Among these are Swedbank’s Headquarters, the new Odenplan Station and Stockholm City Station.

Therefore, 3XN has now established a Swedish company in Stockholm in order to support the client in the best way possible and get a local base with local staff. 3XN has already hired several Swedish employees both in Stockholm and at the studio in Copenhagen.

"We see the new company as the best way to become a significant part of what’s happening in Sweden right now and to give something back. Also, it provides us with the opportunity to be closer to the client in the daily process. 3XN works all around the world and we always include local knowledge in order to develop a building design that adds new positive qualities to the surrounding area", explains Partner and Creative Director at 3XN, Kim Herforth Nielsen.

Most recently, 3XN is also one of the eleven prominent architecture firms participating in the ongoing competition for the new Nobel Center on Blaiseholmen in Stockholm. The competition proposals are currently being exhibited at the Nobel Museum in Stockholm and in early November the Jury will reveal two to five finalists who will proceed to the second round of the competition.
