The Blue Planet is nominated for the Danish Lighting Award 2013

Both the exterior and interior lighting helps to orchestrate the visitors’ experience of the Blue Planet. Seen from the outside, the building's curvy aluminum façade is illuminated in such a way that the curvature can be glimpsed in the dark without bothering planes on the way to and from Copenhagen Airport. The interior lighting of the exhibition and aquariums enhance the experience of being under water, and each luminaire in the exhibition area has been selected and positioned so that the light is not reflected in the aquarium glass. The majority of the lighting is LED. Several of the lighting fixtures have been designed or modified specifically for the project.

The other nominated projects are:
The media facade of the House of Industry / Transform Architects
IBC Innovation factory in Kolding / Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects
Gl Hellerup Gymnasium - Multi-purpose hall / BIG - Bjarke Ingels Group
